What do we do?
In simple terms, we help you solve complex ICT problems in your organisation.
In technical terms, we can assist with 1) business analysis, systems analysis, and other analyst services such as process mapping and improvement 2) ICT project and program strategy 3) moving from strategic objectives and goals to implementation 4) user experience design 5) service design 6) ICT evaluation and 7) ICT procurement.
How do we do it?
We use our very own IDEAS method to help make sense of things. This method has been adapted from the best of multiple ICT industry standard practices.
Why you? What’s your niche?
Our first principles are that we take on small, targeted engagements where we can make the most impact. That doesn’t mean we don’t support big initiatives: we do. We just do it in small bites, often at the start of an initiative to set you up for success, or embedded in the initiative to support you. We bring a lot of knowledge to the table, and we don’t just provide advice, we roll up our sleeves and work for you. We don’t have many overheads, so we don’t charge huge consulting rates. Everyone says they’re cost effective, but because of these principles, we really are.
We’ll take on anything from start-ups to large, matrix organisations. The key is that the engagement must be small (targeted) so you can get a clear outcome out of it.

Launching a Pty Ltd
January 2024: In October 2023, SDE registered as a registered Pty Ltd business in Australia, after years of being unincorporated. Here’s what we learnt about starting your own incorporated business.

Suitable for: Small organisations, small to moderate ICT projects, not-for-profit organisations.
One round of revision and feedback on all deliverables.
Moderate term rate
$160

10-100 hours work
Example: Program strategy and review to kick off a project, consult and develop a significantly complex ICT artefact such as a specification, report, dashboard, visuals.
Suitable for: Self-contained initiatives, small to large organisations and ICT projects.
Two rounds of revision and feedback on all deliverables.
Longer term rate
$150
/per hour
100-1000+ hours work
Example: Embedded in the team to deliver a project, consult and develop multiple complex ICT artefacts such as specifications, reports, dashboards, visuals.
Suitable for: Complex initiatives, moderate to large organisations and ICT projects.
Multiple rounds of revision and feedback on all deliverables.
